I have been talking to the makers of OP Lion Claws, OP Irene, and a few other huge high quality airsoft events. They're considering having a BIG high quality tournament in Michigan. One possibility is renting one of the shut down factories. All they need to know is if there are enough SERIOUS airsofters in Michigan. Most of their tournaments cost 100 dollars; but believe me they're well worth it.

I would love to come, but unfortuently most of their age limits are 16+ to 18+ so I wouldn't be able to attend. Although if this happened after April 30th of next year, and it's a 16+ game. Then I will be there, ready to rock'n roll.

I only speak from experience here: I went to John Lu's (made Lion Claws) OP: Northern Wind in Ohio. The cost was $100 and I was 14 when I went. One thing I like about his OPs are the level of seriousness that everyone takes, If it takes an OP to cost $100 for people to play very seriously, with a command structure. I'd do it again. OP: Northern Wind was no OP: Irene, with vehicles and such but the OP was amazing, the land we used was amazing and the experience was something I won't forget. The OP I went to was the one MSgt. Mad Max Mullen and Col. Paul Longgrear. Both of these guys were great sports and it was a blast to play with them. I highly recommend you go to at least one of John Lu's OPs. The $100 price tag is worth it.

holy hell, John Lu ops in Michigan? I would definitely try my best to make that, it's been one of my goals to attend a huge, well-organized event with possible celebrity sightings.

Note that future games in the Lion Claws series have a ban on high capacity mags: www.oplionclaws.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=64However, you are allowed to carry as many midcaps/standards/locaps as you can hold That being said, I wonder if they can possibly secure a military base here, much like they have with Irene or Night Scorpion...

Yeah, well, no one on our team really wants to fork out $100 for an event, so I doubt that will happen brad. (We have missed a couple OPs that we coulda went to; Safari Strike 2, ect). I am turning 17 this May, so I am fine for 16+, like fuzz. Only problem is I wouldn't want to go alone (without my team), and most of them wouldn't pay over $50 most likely (none of them wanted to go to ACO's CQB when it was $50ish, then they lowered it to either $25 or $35, then they said they'd go, said they had a blast, woulda paid $50 if they knew it was gonna be that good). Don't know, guess we will see.

I'm sure many SEMIAUTO members would be willing to pay $100+. To be more specific, being able to attend one of these high-profile events was one of the reasons I got into airsoft, milsim at its finest.
I'm sure there are enough serious airsoft players in Michigan who would be willing to attend the event, and then there are the people from other parts of the midwest like Ohio, Indiana, etc.

You could count me in, will have to check back with my team, and see. (most have all Hi-Caps, enzo (1 hi-cap for his AK), nick (1 hicap for his ak, though soon I am giving him 2 standards), and chris (tons of VN and M16 Hi-caps).

Okay I think that we could get at least 200 people willing to go to an event here. I'll email him today and let him know.

You know, I went to Northern Wind and I thought it was a screwjob. The Master Sergeant and Colonel were cool, but most of the individual games were tremendously lame. Find the chickens? Rescue the POWs but shooting them is OK too? Find the CO, who's allowed to bury himself? Lame, absolutely lame. I had a lot more fun at the Striker's events on the same field.
I say all this to get this point across: You don't need John Lu or famous combat vets to have a good event. You do need a decent field, but most importantly you need players, organization, and good solid objectives.
As for 200 people... don't count on it. Red Out didn't draw that despite being cheaper and having fewer restrictions.
