Often times when meeting new people at Airsoft games, I don't know what to call them. I'll usually introduce myself: "Adam, King on the forums" Which usually prompts people to tell me their First name, and then their forum name (if they have one). But, some people have very wierd names. Obscure names, like Knief for example. I've heard him introduce himself with his real name and forum name, but the forum name is pronounced Kuh-neef (correct?) I was always under the impression that it was just pronounced knife. I find a lot odd names like that are pronounced in a way only the creator or a few people would know. Another name that comes to mind is Xaos on MiA, who's name is correctly pronounced Chaos.
Then there are the common, simple names, mine for example is hard to mess up, others include Bowen, Donut, Echo, which I don't really have trouble with. And then, the long names. Some can be cut down from El Phantasamo to El, Livonia Airsoft to Livonia, vashthestampede to vash.
With all these names and variations, I think I'm going to just start addressing people on a first name basis. I just feel stupid sometimes calling people these nicknames when I know their real names (and often the names are just silly).
You can call me whatever you'd like, Adam or King, King is my last name so sometimes people call me that anyway. But I think I'll be asking for first names when being introduced to new faces.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about or feel the same way?

Haha, yes! I hate asking this question! I remember some unkown dude and I set up and successfully carried out an ambush at a Futureball game. It turned out we worked really well together so I decided I would ask his name and see if he was on the forums. After I asked him, he was like "What the hell are you talking about" So then I looked like an ass and had to explain what I was babbling about.

Don't think so, this was quite a while ago, maybe the first or second ever game at Futureball, he wasn't on any of the forums.

Very few people on the field call me by my given name, Erich (the "H" is silent, German spelling). However, Its just easier to call me "EL" on the field. What is funny was an instance when JoeySarosy (his real name IS JOEY SAROSY) called me. Brandi answered the phone, and he said "is uh.........uh.....uh.......ERICH there?" LOL, hes been referring to me as "EL" for so long he FORGOT my real name

Yeah, I always said "Neef" too, I switch on and off with some people, don't know why. El just seems to work for him though.
