Alright.... Me being a big fan of shooter games and a veteran player of counterstrike. (Started at age 6) Knows this is wrong..... I want to hear your opinion. Teen expelled from school for creating a counterstrike 1.6 Map of his school. IMHO Its a great map, and I can't wait 'till he releases it. abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=local&id=5263782-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shtuff thats wrong here..... "He played a violent video game that looks like his school" - No, He created a map of His high school and named it his schools name" "He made the video game at his house" - No He didn't make the video game... a team of 3 video game modders did 9 years ago. "A terroristic Threat" - No Its not a terroristic threat. The kid was stupid and named it Clements. (A bit lower I will introduce the remnants of my map) "We do know Police have searched his home, and no charges were filed..." - Yeah.... because he was making it to have fun in. Games are games because they are recreational. He wasn't planing an attack on the school because even if they found a slight hint at it like "Joe needs to die" then they would have something against him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was creating a map based off my school... It has now been stopped and probably wont be on anyone else's computers. It was called cs_highschool It was going to be an exact replica with a few more additions and tricks up its sleeve. There are many reasons in which this stupid senior got caught... He named his map Clements, His schools name. He probably told his friends who in term would tell other people. "Dude my friend is making a map of the school, you should buy CS and get it." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I can see how they feel. The map of my school was removed from the online handbook. It would give some kids a feeling of lesser security because they have a map. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is What was the start of CS_Highschool

Oh fuck that! If I could make a map for Rainbow six of my school, i would do so in a heart beat( tunnels going from the middle school to the high school, tunnels above the school, perfect CQC gaming environment. ) I am sure he didn't mean any harm at all. However you can't be too cautious after the VT incident.

Wow that is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It's just the news looking for a story and blowing things out of perportion. Becuase the news is required to get both sides of a story they just found a random girl that said he didn't mean harm but they clearly wanted to impress that there was harm done by showing the interview of that girl who had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. I can understand why people would be upset because it is an exact replica and I'm pretty sure this was how Columbine kids did it? But in any event this kid shouldn't even have gotten 1 day off you can clearly tell that after a couple million kids play this game and make their own maps this kid just had an imagination. I've always thaught about turning my school into a video game map myself but I'm not that good with making maps for CS or CS:S .

This is a bunch of bull let me tell you. Darn newspapers making a bunch of crap outta nothing. How could they possibly take action based solely on out-of-school actions? What, would they suspend me too because I have a map of my high school, which is printed in my student handbook that they hand out every year, and shoot guns at a gun range? Would I be suspended as well? Darn you, stupid high school administrators and misinformed, easily scared general public, darn you.
Edit: oh and ps, zeke, I would so play your map

Ok first of all, the kid could have simply just changed the name of the map, to avoid all the trouble. But because of the columbine shootings and what just happend at virginia tech, they have to take procautionary actions incase it was set up for the student to learn the school and how to attack, not that the game would help that much in the real world. The police or the FBI ior, who ever is in charge of the case should do a background check on the student if he/she is a good student or bad, and if he was a bad student such as fighting with to many people or telling someone I'm going to kill you, ect. Or if the student was not liked and people picked on him watch him, but the kid should most deffinatly get suspended for the trouble not expelled? Why expelle him thats just going to make him angry and hate the school and the government, and possibly do an attack like we have seen columbine, and vt. Also we most deffinatly don't want those attacks to happen again.

sorry all im with " The origional gangster" on this one. it just poses a submitable threat. i understand what that is comming from, ive been suspended for taking my girl friends camera, with "intent to sell" even though it was my girlfriends. so shit happens and i see there point but expulsion is a little drastic. the people will probly rule in favor and the child will be able to graduate. i mean only thing they go is that he had a video game map. plus 12 years of school just to shoot it up? not me ide say. shit hes got 4 weeks left.

I voted other
WHY?
Because no charges will be filed. the kid did not commit any crime. If his parents are smart, and his lawyer good they Will sue the school district for expelling him over a matter that presented no immanent threat to the school.
this is why I detest "Soccer Moms" so much. this is a generic term I use for overzealous mothers who feel its their "Mommy Duty" to protect their children, and other peoples children (because in their own minds, there the best mom in the world. and mommy always knows best) form any thing remotely wrong or harmful in the world.
It carries over to school boards too. My own mother has seen it time and time again when she was on the school board. Even going t the local paper (I called it the local tabloid) to rile up the locals against my moms level headed and reasonable decision with reactionary media (MEDIA BLITZ!)
the school overreacted big time. THEY should be punished, not the student
Ill stop now before I really let go.

Augh. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. Gamers have been making maps to play ever since Duke Nuke'm. I've make maps of schools, buildings, downtown areas, shopping malls, places i've worked at, etc.
What in the world is this country coming too?

Wow, im just speechless on this one... Our country has become WAY to protective of... everything... This is almost as bad as that Fox news super-anti-airsoft-gun-demonstration (that one where the girl drops the gun on the counter and says, 'it even SOUNDS like a real gun when it is dropped". )

Is that Source you made the map for Zeke?
What's funny is, I've been playing CS for about 5-6 or so years or so, and I am a map maker for 1.6, I've made about 20 maps so far, I'm not as good as the ones who make CAL maps as so detailed of sorts as they, but I base my ideas around things I think are cool. I would like to think I am Nipper Jr, but that's a bit high in all reality. but the funny part is I actually made my school a CS map, I haven't published yet because it's WAY to big and it is a tad laggy because of it's size, so, I have been trying to tune it to the best of my ability so at least 20 people can play it lag free.
People are way to retarded about this though.

Wow. This is retarded. The kid did nothing but make a VIDEO GAME MAP. People need to find the difference between video games and real life. Whats next, if I play a game with my name as Mike, and I get killed, people will arrest the guy for wanting to murder me?
Stupid Country.
