Beware, this is a long one!
iPhone
Introduction:
I love my 8 gig iPhone, oh and by the way, it is $20 plus the cost of your line.
example, I have a $10 line, and it costs $20 extra bucks to have unlimited internet, email, everything except text messages. 200 text messages, if you pay $30 you get 1500 text messages, you pay $40, you get unlimited. Basically, I have unlimited everything, with 200 text messages. Then i have 400 minutes, with rollover, i have over 2000 because they just keep adding up. It's not $60 UNLESS your a new customer switching over to AT&T. Other wise it’s $20 plus the line. Yes the phone is expensive, but it’s the better then a Treo, Blackjack, or Blackberry. Yes, I have used them all-iphone beats them hands down.
It can do just about anything you want it too.
I’m 15 years old and I love this thing, I text, email, call people ALL the time, plus I have a video Ipod, GPS system, Stocks (yes, I have invested in stocks so its nice to see what they are everyday and too see the over-time graph!), and weather to all the cities that you want to see--in any part of the world—all in one device!
Features:
The camera feature is cool too-it has the best mobile phone camera out there-I guess the only problem is, it can't take videos. But that’s okay; I never took videos any way. Speaking of camera, the photo albums is great, you can download all of your photos that are saved on your computer from anything--meaning I you can download them from itunes, My Pictures, and other picture-saving spots.
It has one of the longest battery life's out of any mobile phone.
Reception is great; it beats my mom's blackberry, my friend’s blackjack, and my old RAZR BY FAR.
Also, the headphones it comes with are sweet. They have a little button close to where your mouth would be so when you are listening to music and a call is coming in, Iphone will pause the music, have the ring tone go through your headphones and you can click the little button on your headphones once to answer, and the once to hang up and resume playing music, or click it twice to ignore the call and send it to voicemail. There is a small microphone in the headphones button thingy so you can just talk into the little microphone and keep the phone in your pocket! It’s great! Best part is, it’s not crap, and it’s very clear and works great! Also, with the head phones, if you are just listening to music then you can click the button once to pause the music, or twice to skip to the next song. Very useful when you are out running and stuff.
You also have Safari. Which is the Internet. The internet is one of the greatest things on this phone. It looks exactly like on a regular computer. When you pull up Google, it doesn't look like the normal mobile phone-crappy internet, it looks just like you were on the regular internet! This is awesome especially when you are bored in class or something just pull this bad boy out and surf the web. In fact, I have made about 10 posts on TLF from my Iphone.--true story.
The GPS can locate anything in the world; I was recently in Germany and Austria about 3 weeks ago on vacation. I typed in the hotel I stayed at in Berchtesgaden Germany and it showed the location. It was great.
Every time you enter the weather icon it updates it right there on the spot and gives you a 5 day forecast, really great... that’s about it.... just swweeettt!
Youtube is great, works fine, can watch a lot of videos on there. Except it isn't the full site. Like you won't get EVERY video that the site has. But even then... you have it on a mobile phone! And just so you don't understand, you get about 1/2-3/4 of all the movies on youtube. For Example, let’s say youtube has 100 movies. Iphone will probably get 50-75 of them-just because it can't load them all etc. etc. but even then... I have all the ones that I want and iphone has all the ones that I have searched for. For example, I typed in family guy. I got lots of pages of results with 25 videos on each page (I got bored and tired after looking through so many pages that I just stopped, there was probably about 30 pages. If you type it in on youtube's site, you get exactly 50 pages with 20 videos on each page.
Calendar is great, it’s just like the Microsoft Outlook one, and you can type in events and have alarms and that stuff.
Text messaging is great too, when you text message it will show up on the screen, then when someone texts you back it shows up right below that, it’s hard to explain, but it’s really neat, you might be able to find pictures on www.apple.com/iphone of it and the text messaging features. This IS THE ULTIMATE text messaging phone. PERIOD.
For all of those people that complain about the keyboard, I can understand, but after having it for a week I can type VERY fast, faster then I could on my mom’s blackberry. Its just so nice, BUT YES it takes awhile to get used to, took me about 2 days to get used to it. Other then that, I don’t see why people are whining! They just need to spend more time with Iphone!
Well, this is a very long post, and I think I forgot to mention about the calling features. (lol). This thing has great reception, along with great speakers and microphone to talk in. During calls you can put it on speaker phone or if someone else is calling you, you can merge the calls and have it like a conference call! It’s really cool, I have only need to do it twice, but if you’re someone who gets lots of calls for work or something it’s a great tool indeed.
I just want to make sure that people know, it’s not really a “heat sensor” its measures the magnetism flowing through your body, there’s a few videos on it on www.apple.com/iphone. If you are interested, you should watch ‘em and see how much you like it.
The Ipod feature is better than a regular ipod. It plays the music beautifully and you can do the whole flip-it on one side to few all of your albums. Ipod videos work on this as well, BUT beware; they take up a lot of room. If I want too few movies I just go to youtube. But I do have some Dave Chappelle shows on it and they play flawlessly.
I personally think the touch screen is very cool, I have had no problems with it, people might think it would be hard, but its not, it’s sensitive, but not TOO sensitive. It works very well and I don’t see any problems with it. PLUS its glass, not plastic like most mobile screens nowadays, and is very durable; which brings me to my next subject.
World clock is amazing too; it has the time of all major cities in every country. The best part is, is that it can be a stop watch, a timer, or an alarm! -Perfect for all situations.
Durability:
The durability is great on this. My friend got his the day it came out and has dropped it twice without a case on cement, it has only cost him a few scratches (he didn’t drop it, his friends dad did, and my friend almost crapped a brick…) Although you can’t fling this thing around like most flip phones, it still is durable enough to last awhile. You don’t need to be afraid if you drop it, but I obviously wouldn’t suggest on doing this because of more obvious reasons. YES the screen is GLASS, most people would immediately think “the screen must scratch easily” well it doesn’t. The glass has a layer of a thin-film like material that keeps it from scratching. It’s just like eye glasses. They don’t feel like real glass, but they are, just because of the extra coating they put on it. Also, with the Iphone, you can buy a “Crystal-Film” set to put an extra layer on top of the one that’s already there, just so you are even more protected, but obviously, you must push and drag a tad harder because its now 0.001mm thicker lol. I have them, they are great, and they are washable and keep the dust off. But usually, I just keep my iphone without the films.
Information:
For those that are worrying that something better will come out. Don’t worry at all, the Iphone is supposed to be out for 5 years before they even start making something new. AND for those who have ipods and itunes, you already know that there are software updates. Well same for the iphone, there are software updates and new applications to add to the iphone. Basically, they will just keep on updating the iphone until they have to make a new one, which won’t be for along time, like 5 years. Also, you get a 2 year contract, so you don’t have to have it for more than 2 years, you can give it up, or just keep it. And if you don’t like it, just take it back, I’m pretty sure there is a 30 day test-drive on it. But I wouldn’t know because I love mine so much, I would never return it.
Basically, I don’t know what is wrong with it, I mean there are about 2 things (listed below under the “cons” segment) other then that, I don’t see why you wouldn’t want/get one, unless of course you don’t need text, email, calendar, and all the other features. Personally, I didn’t think that I needed it, but after using it, it makes you want to use the calendar and email and all that.
Now, which Iphone is for you?
Answer:
The 8 GB. The 4GB is WAY to small, its like selling the 20GB PS3, its way to small to hold anything, and is just a waste, if you going to get an iphone, the go all out with guns blazing and get the 8GB. If you are wondering, on my 8GB I have 534 pictures, 301 songs, 3 episodes of Chappelle shows, and quite a few –large- emails. I have used about 1/3 of all of its memory up. I wouldn’t be able to hold all of this stuff with a 4GB. My friend (who I mentioned earlier) has a 4GB. He has 0 photos, 250 songs, 1 movie, and is almost full; he has less than 1GB left. The reason for this is when they say you get an 8GB iphone, you don’t actually get all 8GB, and you get 7.24 I believe. Same thing with ipods, you won’t actually get ALL of the GB’s. Reason for that is because the software that is actually running the phone takes up space too. They advertise the total amount of GB’s, not the total amount that you get. With a 4GB ipod, you get about 3.16 GB (that’s what my friend said-I’m taking his word for it). He is disappointed so he’s going to exchange for an 8GB.
In the box:
-Iphone
-headphones with button thingy
-USB cable
-Dock
-Wall charger
Cons:
Not really anything big but:
-Can’t mass delete emails, you have to delete them one at a time
-WiFi is sweet, I have it at my house, but without WiFi, the EDGE internet provider isn't too fast (3G is the fastest, with EDGE in second, but even then, I would expect to have 3G, but don't get me wrong, EDGE is still very fast, especially for being a mobile phone). Basically, the better connection you have the faster the internet
-The accessories for it (such as cases) all suck. There really isn’t a cool case out, and there really isn’t much else for it.
This is truly a great invention, so if you have any questions, just ask me through PM. I bought this phone on Saturday July 14 and it’s great!
Remember, you can always get more info on www.apple.com/iphone
hope you enjoyed it! I love this thing to death, unfortunatly, it will post-pone me from getting an AEG, but if I sell my stuff, hopefully I will be able to get one sooner!
