Knief and I were talking about what a big unified team might mean later down the road and I'd like to hear anything you guys would like to say. Some Ideas Knief and I suggested: Camo is required A sidearm will probably be required after 2-3 months with the team. Considering most people would join the team upwards to 15-20 people would be on the team. A 5 dollar a month fee would probably happen. Your 5 dollars would contribute to maybe team deals (BBs, Gas, etc). Squads would split up into 3-4. Snipers would go in groups of two (sniper and a spotter). Ranks possibly they'd go as followed -Platoon ldr -Squad leaders (3-4) -G.I (rifleman/Gunner/Demo) -Sniper/Specialist. Give me your comments/ideas! Note: This is far from happening as we are still in infancy but just like to have a plan

I also think that radios would be a good thing to require, and we could probably get a bulk deal at a radio shack kind of place if we got 10-15 at a time.

I think an actual team is a good idea for Operations, but to actually turn SEMIA into a team would not be a good idea. Reasons for this are that teams require people to be dedicated all the time for all games. SEMIA is just meant to be a way for people to be able to communicate open games in the area, so that people actually get to play a good amount of airsoft. Once some people have actually played together and know each others attitudes it would be great for people to form teams with eachother. But in my opinion I don't want this thing to jsut turn into anohter team, it needs to be more than that.
In regards to a team not related to the plan, those requirements and ideas sound great, i would definitely be down for joining a team like that. I also think that once we accumulate enough money from dues that we shoudl buy our own property or land, that is if some of us make some large donations (i'm willing to). That might be expecting a bit much, but it would be nice.

Well considering the fact that I am already a pretty dedicated sniper, I would be willing to act as one for this team. I agree with Mitch, I think that for larger OPs it would be nice to go as a "team" quote-unquote; however during normal games, maybe we should act more as a "sub-league", that is, a group of organized, really really good looking players(heh, Zoolander) playing under the MiA reg's with FPS and such. Of course it would benefit us to use the SEMIA games as practice, but they should also be open to all responsible players willing to come and have fun, unlike the strictly team-only practices that some teams employ. Perhaps we could do our own team practices(assuming one is formed) for tactics and "strategery", and then employ said tactics during the normal SEMIA games(Monthly, I think?)

I like the idea of holding formal monthly games, with anybody starting other games whenever they can get enough people. About needing $5 though, make guests or new-comers free for the first couple games.

Well Yea, but to be a member it would cost 5 bucks a month, Now who the money would go to would be another question I'd say to vote on it like me, mitch, knief, or Infamous. Also I have another idea. For spending your $5 a month, your money could go to a proper chrono. IF you have any other ideas on what our money should go to reply to the thread

Money could go towards team insignia, gas money to get to OP's, gas and bb's, chrono's, eventually maybe a team loaner AEG depending on how far into this we get, and so on.

Well, I already have a proper chrono, so we don't have to worry about that. But group bbs and gas, team patches, and things of that sort are a good idea. I don't know about a loaner AEG because we'll all end up fighting over what kind to get and if breaks we'll have to raise more funds to get it working again and stuff. Although, it could be another source of revenue if we charged a little for it's use. If somebody wanted to try out airsoft, they could pay like, $10 a day and we could make some money back from it. Just thinking in text form here.

I think it would be cool to get like a team patch or dog tag for all of us members.

I like the idea of the rental AEG. And Dog Tags would be cool, maybe if we have big events once in a while people could buy t-shirts with profits going to buy stuff for the whole group.

I don't know about a loaner AEG because we'll all end up fighting over what kind to get and if breaks we'll have to raise more funds to get it working again and stuff. How bout just lending it out, no charge, and if someone breaks it, they gotta pay for the repairs. I have an invitation to "Tag along" with GK on A practice day, and Xaos said he could find a loaner AEG for me. That sends A more welcome impression than a $10 rental fee.

Ok I came up with some ideas about a team. SEMIA is not really a team but I (plus some others as you all have expressed) would like to form a team. So if we do form a team out of some of us it could be a subsection of SEMIA. I think we should call it SEMIAUTO (South East Michigan Airsoft Unit Task Operations). Instead of focusing on collecting dues from all members of SEMIA who wish to play a game, we can collect manditory dues only from those on the SEMIAUTO team. Of course these members would get more benefits in certain aspects. But this would not reuire those who "just want to play some airsoft" (those who are members of only SEMIA) to pay out any cash at all. So an overview of this goes as follows:
1--Anyone can join SEMIA freely, and will be contacted for all games. There will be no required money (donations are acceptable though)
2--If some of these people wish to join an organized team, this team will be SEMIAUTO. These players will: practice tactics, act as a unified team, recieve benefits, and pay dues.
I think this will work out very well. But as in any case, I need all of your input.
Mitch
