Who owns this land? Do you have permission from that person to use it?

I have looked into that. According to the people that paintball out there (and they have for many years), the owners have no problem with the land being used for recreational activites such as this. The area is also used for dirtbikes and 4 wheelers.
Now that status may change if the property is ever sold, but as it stands now we are free to play there as far as I can tell.

If the owners have no problem letting you guys go there I would take it one step further and get written permission because technically you guys are trespassing while in possession of realistic looking firearms. Technically too he may be liable for anyone injured by something on his property. You can't just base it on hearing from someone who might have heard from someone else that it's okay.
Playing in any public places or in a privately owned field with no permission is very dangerous for those doing it and for our sport. It can get you killed and that is not in any way blowing it up just so it sounds bad. It could also get our sport banned.
The big concern here on SEMIA is safety and obeying the law so that our sport will continue to evolve and get better. With that said, I can't let you guys promote your field here until you are able to obtain written documentation from the owner that states that you are allowed to play airsoft on his property. It's not in any way singling you guys out, that is the standard for anyone who wants to post here or on MIA.
I'd certainly be willing to give you guys a hand in doing that and if this field is actually as good as you guys say it is. Once you have the proper documentation, we could have sanctioned games going there in no time. The last game my team held had over 60 people show up.

Well the original intention here was not actually to promote a field, but to see if there were other teams/fields in the area or just other interested players. I can pursue locating the property owner as you suggest.
As to what we are or are not allowed to promote here, that is your call as it is your forum. I will ask though if you are from this very rural part of the state. Here many groups play paintball on private property without "written consent" but with a "nod of the head". Just farm town thinking I guess. I am not trying to be argumentative just pointing out the way things are around here. Ever hear of Painted Forest? It is a paintball field in Newport that has been operating for over 10 years, without written consent and there are police who play there.
**Edited by Ezerharden ** Just another note on this, as a Criminal Justice major I would also point out that "trespassing" is only such if 1) you have been asked to leave an area or not be there, or, 2) the property is legally posted no trespassing, which this property is not.
I have left a message with the owner of the property, but according to his agent that I spoke to, he gave permission years ago for this activity as he knew someone that was an avid paintball player. I am awaiting a call back to see if the situation has changed any.

I completely understand how things are done in more rural areas as I came from a small town myself. I'm actually more used to that and it took some adjusting to do it the "technical" way.
The only problem is we have to treat everyone the same which means we can't let one group do something that we can't let another group do otherwise there would be no point in having a standard.
I'm genuinely interested in your field and I know that with the "technical" stuff out of the way it could prove to be another great place. Let the owner know that if he wants to make a little money on the side, our team may be able to organize $70+ people who would gladly pay for the privilege of playing on his property. If he says he doesn't want to take money, all the better.
As for the trespassing thing it really just depends on the person. I could walk into my one neighbors house without saying anything with no problems but if I did that to my other neighbors even though they did not ask me to leave nor did they post a sign I would still be trespassing.

I understand your position on this, as I said it is your forum so your rules. I am attempting to gain the "technical" necessities.

What's the approximate acreage? Well, back in '61 you could fit 1,000 cars back there.

Ho-damn, thats nice. Get all the details (being permission to play, preferably written) and I'd for sure be down to sling some plastic.

If the legalized issues pass, and the field is deemed safe and owned to host events on, I'd love to come check it out. Just some advice, If you do get this field idea rolling, it wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in some cover, staging area, and some block-off fences to mark where the property ends.

There is block-off fences, and the staging area would be the parking lot which backs right up to it, literally. That's what we do, park, load up, and literally take 3 steps and we're on the field.

Still working on it, the property has changed hands several times. It may be going on the market again soon, if that happens we may try to purchase it.

Me and some of my buddies play out there. I know what field you're talking about, we have a group on facebook as PALO(MI), some of the guy's on there are a little immature, so if you like to talk about anything you can reach me on here or on there under joseph hackney.
