I was under the impression that you have to use semi-auto only in the house. But the open field it is OK to use full-auto.
I won't be able to attend this one, I have to save my money for Starlite.

Oakey, it's semi-auto for the entire field.
kjones,
Trust me when I tell you that full auto on this field is overkill. In general, the ranges that you will be engagint people at are very small because of the set up of the field. There are really only two or three spots where you can see past the range of your gun. A lot of the fighting takes place between point-blank range and 30 feet. At those kinds of distances, full auto doesn't do anything for you that semi-auto doesn't.
What full auto and hicaps make you want to do, however, is spray. Even people who claim to use controlled bursts rarely let out less than 2 seconds of fire. And when your gun fire 13 bbs per second, that's a shit load of overkill. We've played some full auto games there before, and it wasn't pleasent. I took a full mp5 mag to the side at about 5 feet. While I think that the shooter was irresponsible, that shit just happens when people are allowed to use full auto in such a close environment.
But there's more to it than that. Using semi-auto forces you to learn how to aim your gun, and not just trace a line of bbs to your target. Sure, that's an "effective" way to eventually get your gun pointed in the right direction, but it's hardly skillful. Any 6 year old can point a hose at something eventually. As an airsoft player, you want to be able to level your rifle and hit your target with a quick double tap before he has time to shoot back or move out of the way. Playing at the Dirty Dozen field has greatly improved my ability to do that. All of the guys who regularly played against the Dirty Dozen have imroved dramatically. Our first few times out, the games weren't even close. Junior had to make rules and stack our team to make the games even remotely fair. Contrast that with our last few games there; we (essentially the same people) have won more than we lost. And its not because the Dirty Dozen suddenly got shitty. They're really fucking good, especially on their home court. We got better from playing there.
We learned how to be agressive, we learned how to strategize better, and we learned how to shoot. I garuntee that if you play a few DD games by their rules, you'll become a better player.

youtube.com/watch?v=I7uBMkyvJeMthat shows most of the field but there is more things such as bunkers and forts there now. yes it is out doors to. the field is about 4 acres. there is a house in the back corner. it is blueish greenish. we built it. there is tire forts, sniper towers, dug outs, jailcells, trees, and much more. the field has been rated by many to be very well.and yes it is semi auto only for a good reason. like knief said. thanks knief for your help.

Well, UofM dominated NMU over the weekend, so we're moving into the final four this weekend (At Joe Louis arena, if anybody wants to attend). Which means, I'll be in town this weekend, which means that I will be attending the game, most likely with Psychosis tagging along.
Conscrpit,
We usually play force on force games for most of the day, then for an hour or two before we break for dinner, we do the three gun competition courses.

I can't wait! First game of the year!!!!! ;D I hope the weather will be like how it was yesterday, minus the swamp-like ground, but thats why you wear boots! Conscript, the 3-gun course works like this most of the time. Pistol round: one person carries a pistol with a shotgun shell in their pocket. The pistol man must shoot at pieces of bent sheet steel while being timed. A miss doesnt get a penalty, but hitting the wrong colored steel does (usually you have to hit some specific color, but avoid the other colors. After the pistol man is done, they hand it to the shotgun man. Shotgun round: They hold on to an AEG magazine while rushing through the house to shoot the same type of targets. You then deliver the AEG magazine to the rifle man. Rifle Round: This person recieves their magazine and must shoot targets on poles while moving towards it. If you miss a target and move past it, you get a time penalty. Once the Rifle man passes teh finish line, the time is recorded for the whole group. Winner gets bragging rights for the rest of the day, and on the forums! ;D

Can a field really be too muddy to play on? I'll make a day of it even if I'm knee deep.
