For those of you who know me well enough to have a conversation outside of airsofting, I'm sure you've heard about my Dog, Shelby. A German Short hair/Husky mix. Tuesday she went to the vets office. she was loosing weight rapidly, and could not keep any food down. The vet found a bowel obstruction (piece of dog toy) lodged in her stomach. Emergency surgery followed immediately. Later, she started to bleed into her stomach. The damage done to her stomach and bowel was more sever than we all first thought. The vet then gave her emergency surgery Pro Bono at about 9:30 this morning She died around 12:30 today, on the operating table She flat-lined twice, and was potentially "Brain-Dead" The vets tried their best, and I thank them for it Shelby was chosen from a litter of puppies a Friend had. (Her Short hair jumped the fence and got knocked up by the husky next door). As you can see from the pictures below, she had very light blue eyes. We chose her before her eyes were even open. Shelby was a very affectionate and sensitive dog. She would hide when I raised my voice, and not leave you alone until you threw her toy. She also played nice with Mo, my ferret. Many amusing hours were spent watching her chase that fuzzy little bugger Sometimes Mo would chase her! If I don't seem to be in the holiday spirit, I'm trying my best under the circumstances. Thank you for taking the time to read my little "Pet Eulogy" Heres some pictures Shelby waiting for her toy to be thrown Shelby and Layla (my in-laws dog) playing fetch in the river. Thats me in the red shorts throwing the stick Shelby and Layla splashing in the river. Shelby would let Layla get the ball way out in the river, then bully it away when Layla got to shore Shelby relaxing on the living room carpet

She's a pretty dog, that's a shame, she looks so healthy in the pictures. Sorry about losing her, Erich, if my dog died I don't know how I'd react, he's my homie.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Good looking dog too. Hardest thing in life is losing something you love, but we all go through it, and it's good to see that you are handling it well. My grandparent's dog just passed away 2 weeks ago, so i know how it feels. That dog had been around me my whole life, but life goes on.
Sorry about your loss, Shane

'Stapo said "shes like your little girl ain't she El?" She sure as hell was. Its been very hard. this is the second dog we lost in 5 years. We've always had a dog, the entire time we've been together. Mo (the Ferret) misses her too. the furry little bugger is all mopey, looking around for the big brown thing that would chase him around

I'm sorry, Erich. I wish I had a chance to meet her, I've been coming around to loving dogs in the last few years. You always made Shelby sound great. My condolences, buddy.

We're here for ya buddy, sorry El, I know that when you called me you told me about her on the phone, and what happened. I just regret so much not meeting her, or getting my dog flash to come out and have a pow wow day with her, watch em play and stuff. Now, we can never do this. And it just really sucks so much. Because she sounded like a great dog. And I have no idea if I could handle it the same if Flash (my dog) died.
I just wish that we weren't late coming home from CQB, if I hadn't dont my m203 videos, possibly I woulda had a spare half hour to see her or something. But that was partially my fault, for telling my cousins parents they would be home sooner.
Hope you get through this man, really pull together, for us all, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year man, and I mean it.

From one dog lover to another, I'm truly sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to loose a dog and a member of the family.

i know exactly how you feel el, i lost my german shepard/golden retiever a few years back. Its allways good to remember the old memories. I remember seeing shelby at one of the romulus games, she almost tackled me. she was an amazing dog. I have this new dog, his name is russell (hes a wiener) and 3 days after his 1st birthday he was attacked by a coyote one day when i let him out to do his business. i stepped away from the door to grab a glass of Dole pine orange banana juice and i hear a terrible whine from outside, i dropped my glass and ran outside. i see a HUGE coyote with my little puppy in its mouth trying to rip the shit out of it. i yell yell at the top of my lungs and it drops my dog. he was in critical condition and my brother rushed him to the vet hospital (driving on his permit at age 15). they had to drain fluid out of his neck and give him 23 stitches if i remeber correctly, he made a full recovory. (3 months later that coyote took 3 .22 rounds into the lung, my dad took it down in our backyard.) that is russell, hes now 3 years old. A show dog.
