Hey, I know I dont post or come here much... But recently with a few changes on my team based in Flint i've been havin ideas flying through my mind and need some opinions on this..
My team is located in the Grand Blanc area... We have players from Davison, Flint, Lapeer, Burton, and other surrounding areas that play with us occasionally... --- You know teams, and just players ---...
I was thinking of starting a club in this area hosted by my team...
With the formation of this club we would invite anyone and everyone of any skill level, etc... to join up... There would be a cost associated with joining which is 5$/a month... That would supply the club with money for things like patches, rental equipment (Bdu's, entry level aegs, ammo, tatical gear...), improving our playing fields and what not... This equipment could be rented out in package deals or individual pieces according to the players....
The benifit of this club would be to expand the horizons of Airsoft in our area as well as draw players young and old to the sport... Aswell as assist teams in recuiting players.. And what not...
Pause... Sorry if im a little vague... But this is just shooting through me as I go...
Continue...
You could say it would be like a little MiA with in our Genesee county (and surrounding) area(s)...
What do you think?

That's what we do, but for free. Why would people pay to play with your club?

It is localized, we have five play locations just amongst the team, one that I would consider tournament quality... But that is a matter of perception... We would rent out AEG's, Ammo, gear, bdu's... On sight gun repair, improvement of our fields... Though I cannot say at the moment, I would expect 30-50 members with in the first few months... So far I've had positive responses from team mates, other teams, and other individuals. On the paying note, 5 was just a number I threw out there... It could be anything, y'know... But anything over 5$/m, I would find absolutely ridiculous...
You pay for being a part of the club, not for just playing with it... (Im not sure if that is what you meant.) It would give local airsofters (local meaning genesee county/surrounding) a place to meet new and experienced players looking, new players a chance to really experience the sport first hand with 30+ individuals, local teams to recruit new members, a place to hone your skills, and being a piece of the club would give everyone an oppotunity to place airsoft on a relatively large scale... also enabling us to create strong scenarios and perhaps even give us the ability to host our own OPs... Allowing members to run staff, ref, and play with other teams in michigan...
Here's some highlights to consider...
01) Communication-Club Belonging. -A place to meet local individuals and teams. 02) Rental of items and Connections with local businesses. 03) Games and events in a localized enviornment. 04) Out of town/area Networking 05) Introduction to statewide airsoft
Again, this is only my first wave 'o thoughts... Thanks for your post Knief.

MIA post and response:
Mandor:
Why do you need a membership fee though? If people want to try airsoft there are plenty of people who will loan guns for tryouts. If you want patches and etc. Form a team. I live in Genesee Co. and am already part of a team. Due to my work schedule it makes it difficult sometimes to make team practices and would be nice to just play "pickup" some weekends, but i'm not interested in paying to be part of another club. If you're talking about a field fee, ok, sure. If you're forming a team, then have team dues. If it's just a general association, ask for donations towards field improvements. It may be percieved better.
SFOD-D JA/Merc:
I see your point, Mandor... It seems that the only problem with this is that there would be a fee attached. Im sure we can meld and mod this anyway we like to get a decent product.
Personally, I think that having a small fee would help boost initial investiments and allow us to make improvements rather rapidly aswell as assist in paying for a first wave of rental entry AEG's, BDU's, Gear, bb's, etc.. But I can't say that I have enough experience with this to make an real statement, just a few opinions here and there.
Im sure there are people out there willing to loan a few guns here and there, but i've found more people would prefer that their guns stay in their possession... And if they break, so what? Purchasing these entry level AEG's would give new players a chance to experience the sport with out being hardcore worried that if something goes wrong, Johnny would get pissed at them and wouldnt lend them anything in the future.
There are alot of nice people out there willing to donate... So perhaps we can show them what we have and what we want to have in the future to give them a little incentive on their donations. If we can get enough to really cover some of the basics the whole shpeal about a club fee can be waved indefinitely...
I like the idea of a field fee... We could use that strictly for the field and making improvements here and there.
I suppose what I can do here is try a few things here and there, investigate demand and market, and really think a few more things through. This has been a rather spontaneous brainstorm that really only started last night...
Thanks for the post Mandor.

SEMIAuto was going to try a fee. If you make people pay to play..... you won't get that many people. Keep it free..

if you had a decent field and like 10 or more players and games every week or so i wouldn't mind paying $5 cause come on if you don't have $5 then how do you even have an airsoft gun
