Gun manufacturer Photo contest

I was Bored tonight so I started taking pictures of my guns, I took this one specific picture that got me thinking, 'Hey, that would make a good advertisement for H&K'
So I got busy on paint (I don't have photoshop...) and I came up with this


As I was making the picture, I also thought it would be cool if we could organize a little Photo contest on SEMIA, where you try to make the best Advertisement/promo thing for a company of your choice using airsoft guns and self taken pictures.. Since I'm such an H&K dork, I chose them

But, we would need a couple of volunteer judges, who, couldn't post pictures or enter the contest, but they would decide who made the nicest photo. Maby we could even throw in a bag of BBs for the winner.

Ideas, concerns, thoughts. I'm open to them

Umm.. I'm a photographer and I have a lot of composition and setup knowledge when it comes to photos, and seeing as I don't have a gun.. I could be a judge. ;D

I really like how you kept it simple. You could have the coolest gun ever, but if you stick text all over the picture and arrows and stuff, no one will see your picture. Simplicity is a big factor, usually when it's short, sweet and to the point, people tend to notice it more.

Also, this doesn't really apply to any of those two photos. But there's something called the rule of thirds in photography, divide the picture you're about to take in three sections, vertical columns. And when you put the subject in one of these columns. Also think about the vertical position of the subject and how it looks in each area.

Much like this:



You usually want to place the subject on the line in between these columns.
For example:

So sence it seems like you like the contest idea, we should set up a set date when everything needs to be posted.

True, will this be a monthly, weekly, every so often event? We need to set up the frequency as well.

A monthly Event would be Cool, we could announce the winners at the SEMIA monthlys too.

A:we don't use...points per say
B: I'm sure the judges don't want to see any orange, it will kill it.
Its suposed to be real-steel ads, not airsoft
