You need more light and the pictures will come out better. Take some lamps from around your house, remove the shades, and turn them all on in your bedroom, then take the pictures. Also, darker objects (like guns) show up better against darker backgrounds because the camera can pick up more of the minor contrast. Come back with some decent pictures and then we'll tell you if we like the gun or not.

+1 for you Knief. Thats some stuff I didn't know (that I probably should have), that will help me out when I take photos from now on.
Anyway... Its coming along quite well Dan, I like the Burlap wraping you got on there. It should come in handy in the fall.

Matt, That's just stuff I've learned from personal experience. If you remember the pictures of my pistols that I posted at the beginning of the summer, you'll notice that I put a dark blue felt blanket down. Before that, I tried on a white bed sheet and you could barely see the details. You see, your digital camera will adjust it's shutter speed (among other things) to accomodate how much light is coming into the lense. So if you have a light background, it will reflect a lot of light and your camera's shutter will snap very quickly. The problem is, the black from the gun won't refltect nearly as much light. So, the CCD won't pick up enough light to show all the details of the gun. Now, if you lay down a dark background, the shutter will adjust it's speed to match the smaller amount of light being reflected, and match the correct speed necessary to pick up the gun's details.
Of course, if the background is too dark and the object is too light, the shutter will stay open for longer and the object will be washed out. The goal is to have the amount of light reflected by the background surface to match that reflected by the object for maximum clarity (of course you can play around with that to get different effects).
Once you have your reflectivities matching (or close enough, it doesn't have to be perfect), the more light the better (again, for clarity. You can play around with it for different effects.). When both objects have more light to reflect, the shutter will close faster and you'll get an image with less blurring.

If i can find that sight you can have it and try to put it on your gun if you went. im pretty shure its around the hose somewhare becuase i never sold it.
