Hey guys, I'm new here so I figured I'd make an introduction topic and "wut gun shuld i get?" topic in one. I looked around the forum and saw that both of these kind of topics were aloud. This is, as you can probably tell by my language and demeanor, far from my first forum so I'm pretty experienced when it comes to not being a n00b forum wise. Airsoft, on the other hand, is where I run into problems.
WARNING MASSIVE TEXT INCOMING IF YOU WISH YOU CAN SKIP TO THE LINKS I WON'T BE HURT.
I'll start with describing me, I'm definitely what you would call a fat guy, at first appearance I'm your average geek, comic book shirts, obscure popculture references you know the usual, yet I can run surprisingly far and fast for someone my size. I weigh 235 and am 5' 11'' if you need a better picture. My first airsoft actual airsoft experience was a little over a month ago. It was with some friends of mine who although are a year younger than I, have been airsofting for approximately two years. The field was a little park. The scenario was a 5v4 assault. The defending had two snipers, a mid grade AEG and two people with a spring pistol. They were in stationed at a playground on the west end of the feild. that gave a decent view of the field and the snipers could cover most of it. The attacking team(the one I was on) started on the east end of the field. We had a better mid grade AEG, a craptacular shotgun, and me and someone else with a spring pistols. Now at first everyone just starts walking over there and I say " Shouldn't we like split up and rendezvous on the other side or something?" This idea struck them as strange. We try it anyway. Three of us make it over there to the agreed meeting point, of course the one missing is the guy with the good AEG he was hit by one of the snipers. While we were attempting to make another plan where we thought we were out of range, we hear an unexpected pinging of plastic. One of the snipers hit one of our guns. All of us simultaneously make a break for a nearby grouping of trees, the shotgun guy was taken down by the other snipers before he got there leaving the two of us wit nothing but pistols. We make a quick decision to run in opposite directions and then charge at the enemy position. I end up needing to take cover again due to being chased by their one of their pistol guys. I did manage to take him out though, only to look over and see my last teammate hit by both of the snipers. I decide " Screw it" and Charge out form cover with a healthy "YIPPEE KAYAY MOTHHA ****ER" cocking and firing my pistol in the general direction of the opposing team managing to run a complete circle around the playscape. I realize at some point that my gun isn't firing and that I'm out of ammo. I begin to slow down only to get hit with three bbs at the same time. Two from the automatic and one from the sniper the rest of the team was taken down during my desperate charge. After the all firing was stopped, we all gather around. Everyone had their mind blown about how well the new guy preformed. My mind was blown that they had never tried my tactics before, and that is where my success came from they were simply not ready for the sudden change of tactics. They kept telling me that was the closest the defending team got to winning in that scenario with similar teams.
They told me it was near impossible for the defending to actually win. The next round proved that wrong.
My friend with the good AEG decides he wants to use a pistol and lets me use his gun. This time me and the shotgun guy decide to go around the building on the north side to flank them from behind, the rest of the team goes on the south end or straight down the middle. we end up positioning ourselves exactly where we wanted to be. I begin laying down suppressing fire to grab some attention while shotgun guy tries to go in close. The rest of the team is pinned down by the snipers in one of three spots. After the shotgun guy is taken down the snipers turn their attention to me. I take cover behind the corner of the building. One of their pistol guys was sneaking up on me from the south wall hugging it closely. He fires and misses then I spray him. I once again decide screw it and commit another balls out charge omitting the YPKYMF Holding the trigger down I begin running and see a slide seeing it as the quickest way up. I only get half way up the slide. I see one guy doubled over and everyone else throwing up their hands. I had it every single one of them, and someone in the inner thigh three times. The attacking team had only one down. We had won
That passage might seem like a shitty Tom Clancy Fanfic and an attempt to glorify myself, but that's what happened. I though that was the best way to introduce my playing style. I gave a vague Idea of what I want in a primary gun:
Auto/semi auto capabilities
Electric
Large round capacity
Okay range
Lightwiegh
metal gearbox
being less than 170$
Things I don't care about:
Accuracy
body material (plastic or metal)
utility rail
There are a few I have been looking at:
www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?products_id=30079&osCsid=ccceb79e5fa177084b67c6af5b14af91 This one seems to have most of the traits I'm looking for, however it is heavy and on the higher end of my budget.
www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_44_214&products_id=27717
This one also has most of the traits but has a lower FPS and is slightly more affordable, but lacks an orange tip. With the way cops are in Trenton, I need a tip
www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_44_214&products_id=23925
This one is heavier, does not come with a battery and a lower fps but is considerably cheaper
www.kapowwe.com/1-1-656.html www.kapowwe.com/1-2-710.html
These two are hella cheap, in every way possible. Should I get one of these tow start out and wait until invest in a serious gun?
Sidearm: Right now my parents got me a Daisy Airstrike 240 pistol for my birthday last week. I haven't had a chance to play around with it much but I"m not sure I like it all that much, mostly because it's clear and I"m not liking the way the mag loads. Anyone know this gun and if the loading is something you get used to?
Feel free to recommend other guns, other necessary gear or even different playing styles. I kinda feel like my play style is a bit n00bish but it seemed to work well so I don't know.
Sorry about the massive wall of text but I like to make my first posts count. I hope I'll get to know some of you guys in my time on this forum and look forward to taking you down at an event some day.
Sorry about the links I'm used to Invision power board set ups Someone wanna tell me how to fix that?
