So, I have been looking around on both here and MIA and I'm having a hard time finding any place to play that isn't on either the other side of the state or in Ohio. Does anyone know any places in either Wayne Co., Macomb Co., or Oakland Co. that is good?
[P.S.: Sorry if I'm sounding like a complete newbie, I am one. XD. ]

Somebody just asked this over on MiA. Here's the link: miairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=teamrec&action=display&thread=37331You're a little further south, so you'll probably be a little more interested in the Hellfish games in Taylor than the guy on MiA. I also forgot to mention SFOD, which is a field in Davison (east of Flint). They don't run very many games any more, but when they do, they're worth going to. I hope to see you out at Taylor when we get our first game set up next month.

Awesome! Taylor is a stone's throw away, so I'm definatly going to look into it. Now, here's another stupid and repetitive question that has probably been asked before. Are there any airsoft shops around the area? I prefer being able to walk into a shop and have a real person I can talk to.
The only places I've really found though are at Gibralter trade center.

The only store on this side of the state is Spy Ops in Lathrup Village (near 11 Mile and Southfield, I believe). They're a decent store, but don't always have the best stock or give the best advice. I'd recommend them if you know what you want or just want to handle some guns, but don't need any guidance. There used to be another shop in a neighboring strip mall called Spy King. They mostly sold low end stuff, but I don't know if they still even exist. Otherwise, everything else is pretty much out on the west side of the state.

Hmm, well, at least you're honest. I think I might stick to checking out the dealers at Gibraltar Trade Center, there was a place called "Going Commando" I think that seemed promising.

None of the stores at Gibralter are any good. Spy Ops is heads and shoulders above those joints for sure. Really, no store is a good place to get advice. They're all looking to push their products, so whatever they tell will have some bias behind it. You're much better off doing your research online and then finding a local store that stocks what you've decided you want.
Is there something specific you're looking for?

Well, That's sort of the problem. I just started to get interested in airsoft about a month ago. I'm still doing a lot of my research as far as what load out I should be running and so forth. So, no, I don't really have anything specific in mind. But I was looking for maybe a MP5 or M4.
One of the huge problems that I'm running into is that every time I go to my friend who's suppose to be helping me learn, his only response is "Well, I don't know if they make a good MP5/M4, you should just wait till I get a G36C and I'll give you my G3."
But from what I've heard, that's either a recon or medic gun. And medic isn't my thing and recon is more like sniping, right? Sorry, I'm rambling.
But I think I'll be looking at an economy brand of either of those guns. I was on MIA and read one of the stickies. I was going to look at more of the Echo-1 stuff maybe to start off with.

Echo1 guns are decent for the price, but won't last you very long or give you top notch performance. G&G is a great top end company and they make an economy line of guns. I know they have an M4 and an AK, and I'm pretty sure they have an MP5, too. The problem with Echo1 is that their quality control is up to the standards that their price indicates--low. So you might get an Echo1 that lasts for a good long while, but your chances of getting something broken out of the box is a lot higher than anything that can be called acceptable. And no matter what you get, their performance is below average. They're just not using the quality parts necessary to give you a good effective range (the range at which you can accurately hit a target) despite their high FPS. They're a low end company that makes low end guns. G&G, on the other hand, is a high end company with top notch quality and quality control that makes a line to cater to the entry level market. They use the same gearbox, motor and hop up and majority of the externals as the standard G&G, which is awesome. The only difference is that the economy line has a plastic receiver (which is a hell of a lot better than the metal bodies you get on most cheaper guns) and doesn't come with a tight bore barrel. The barrel that it does come with is, again, heads and shoulders above the one that comes with an Echo1, and will give you groupings that are as good as just about any other AEG on the field. Links? It is full metal (well, everything that's metal on the real one, of course) and does come with a tightbore. It's also not much more expensive than a lot of the economy guns.

www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_237&products_id=7285The 2nd/3rd link that you sent me seems more up my ally. Even the higher end one wasn't that far out of my budget. If you don't mind me asking, have you ever got to handle an MP5 before? I would like to know if it would even be worth looking into really if I can just work with a M4 instead.

Yeah, I've owned two TM mp5 PDWs and my brother-in-law owns the exact gun that I linked you to. They're nice guns. The small size is great if your play style is fast and furious. Their mags are small, so you can usually carry more of them with the same gear compared to an M4 or an AK. On the other hand, they tend to be a little less accurate (shorter barrel, but that can be made up for with maneuverability), less customizable, and aren't as accurate if you're doing an impression of pretty much any military.
Really though, none of that is as important as what style you like. Either gun can be made to out perform the other with very little money and trouble. So the question you have to ask yourself is which one do you see yourself carrying? Which one is cooler to you? When you've answered that question, you know which gun to get for you. I've been playing for about 9 years now, and the truest truth I've learned is this: If you don't get the gun that you really want, you'll be disappointed with whatever you got instead.

It's defiantly a sweet looking gun, and it's something to mull over. But I have a little while before I absolutely need my own, so I can look at some more reviews and such on it. By the way, I don't remember if I have thanked you yet. But thank you for being patient and helping me out.

I have handled that same exact replica. I can tell you that it is light as, if not lighter, than a full-metal MP5. Lightweight is the way to go, in my opinion, and the G4 series are the best affordable guns on the market today. And about the G3 sniper thing? I don't know what exactly it was you were trying to say, but there is no such thing as a "medic" gun in airsoft. A gun is a gun. Additionally, while were discussing it, are there any plans for the upcoming No Limits season?
