What the heck is BB-IPSC (That's how Knief spelt it). I was thinking of creating a pistol that would not be used particularly for skirmishing. I wasn't sure, but extra magazines, with High Flows, real steal parts, ect. Still don't know what BB-IPSC stands for though...

That's BB-IPSC ("P" before "S"), which stands for BB (as in bb gun) International Practical Shooting Confederation. It's a kind of timed target shooting in a course. There are different classes of guns for different upgrades. For real steel IPSC info, check out www.ipsc.org/ . So far, there isn't a huge BB-IPSC following. What little popularity it gained in Ohio faded when DumboRAT left the airsoft scene. I'm out of time at the moment, so I'll elaborate more when I get the chance.

Well is this a competition for "show" guns. Meaning guns you would probably rule useless and impractical in the field, but good show case items or collections? I was going to upgrade the hell outta my new GBB (to be decided). Was going to throw around $200 into it and upgrade the mags with Hi-Flow Valves, ect. Try some real steel parts to them, ect. Anyhow, that's what I may do.

The chosen weapons of BB-IPSC Champs (Including Clarence Lai, who stopped skirmishing and focuses on IPSC now), are Race Pistols. That is, they are built to be fast shooting tack drivers at close range. The general rule is tight barrels, high power upgrades, no hopup, and heavy bb's.
It's really a reflex test, some may be a small CQB style course with targets throughout, you have to hit every target, and are scored by time, accuracy, and how many shots taken. Some others may just be 4 targets spread apart, you standing at a line, and trying to hit all four as accurately, in four shots, as fast as possible.
It's pretty fun stuff.
P.S. Titleist still treasures his Robarized Racers, and I think Wallace has one too, but yeah, DumboRAT was the enforcer in Ohio BB-IPSC.
Jack.

That is, they are built to be fast shooting tack drivers at close range. The general rule is tight barrels, high power upgrades, no hopup, and heavy bb's. Heavy BBs, Power Upgrade, Tight Bore Barrel, are all in the "No Problem" zone. But how would I go removing the hop-up or even "Fixing" it to where it stays in one position prominantly. Expect in a month or so to see mine (B-day is the 27th and am getting ALOT of money for it, including an extra $100 from parents if I don't skip school and pass with at least all C-'s. ) Any particular models that are dominant, any original ones? I was going to get a TM M92FS and upgrade it higher, since the mags already have High Flows in them. Also, does your pistol have to be Semi-Automatic only? Or can it have the option of say Tri-Burst or Full-Automatic? Also can it have accessories like Extended Magazines and Silencers and stuff? Or is it just a basic pistol on the outside with only a scope attached?

Depending on the gun, you may just be able to remove the rubber bucking. If you can't do that, you can probably shave it down so that it doesn't stick out into the barrel. You don't want fixed hop up, you want no hop up. If you have anything sticking into the barrel, it adds another variable into the bb's trajectory. Guns without hop up are simply more accurate because of that (though Maruzen guns are supposed to have some incredibly accurate hop up systems). The different classes of weapons used with different restrictions. The one that most race guns qualify for is Open class. Scopes/red dots and compensators are allowed and there are no size restrictions on the weapon. My WA SVI Championship .45 is a good example of an open class race gun. In real IPSC, there are restrictions on minnimum power and bullet weight. In airsoft, we probably wouldn't have to pay attention to power since we're not dealing with major kick, but bb weight can make a difference in the time it takes to hit a target, so that could be limited. And, magazines can be no longer than 170mm in length. The KSC M93r mag is just short enough, but I'm betting that the extended glock mags wouldn't work. The KSC M93r wouldn't be allowed however, because all guns must be semiauto only. Although, if you kept it in semi the whole time, I guess we could make an exception (KSC M93r mags fit the KSC M9 too, so they could be used in that gun). Then there is the standard division, which to qualify for, a gun must fit into a box that is 225mm x 150mm x 45mm with the mag insterted (so it limits the gun and mag size together). No optics or compensators are allowed (or barrel porting, but we don't have to worry about that). There is no minimum bullet weight. Then, there is the modified division. In the modified division, guns can have optics and a compensator, but they must fit into a box that is 225mm x 150mm x 45mm with the mag insterted. There is no minimum bb weight. Lastly, there is the production division. You have to use one of these: www.ipsc.org/proddiv.php and it has to be stock. Single action only guns are prohibited. There is no minimum bb weight. For open class, most people modify 1911's (WA 1911's are best suited for it), though using other guns isn't unheard of. For the other classes, it's people use a lot of different things (of course, what you can use in the production division is somewhat limited). The idea in any class is to push the limits as much as possible so as to have the most advantage you can have and still compete in that class. What you want to use is a gun that you're comfortable with. If glock sights line up perfectly for you as soon as you point the gun, then you're best off using a glock in the standard and production divisions. If you can't reach the slide stop on a 1911, then you probably shouldn't use it unless you get an extended slide stop. All guns must be semi automatic only. You could have a slincer in open class, but it won't fit in the designated box for standard and modified division and it wouldn't be allowed in production division.

What gun did you use for your Race Pistol? And how much did it cost. I believe you went the cheaper route and started with a KJ W 1911, but I could most certainly be wrong. I loved the look of your pistol, I just don't remember the specs of it. I don't want to go jocking off of yours so I want to make my own, original, one. (Looking on MiA for your pair. I think you started with Championship .45s now that I think about it, that would be WAs and not KJ W, still looking though.) Edit: (search button is useful . miairsoft.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=gallery&action=display&n=1&thread=1077556827Although I know their name (Custom SVI Championship .45 pair), I still didn't see the stock pistols brand though.

Yeah, it's based off of a WA championship .45. I also don't have a pair of them, the other one in the picture is Stings's. He was on my old team and we made a set of matching race guns together. KJW's can't be upgraded enough to make true open class pistols. They also don't make a double stacker that isn't a para. There is a lot of research that goes into making one of these. Especially if you have a compensated model, you can't just go to WGC and add a bunch of parts to your cart and call it a day. Spend at least a solid two weeks to a month researching what gun you want to use and what you want to do to it. Since you're starting after ASZ went down and ASP lost it's old database, you're already at a disadvantage. A lot of good information was lost, and not all of it has been put up. As far as I know, I have the only copy of DumboRAT's BB-IPSC tuning guide and reviews (I'm sure he and a few others have it, but I havne't been able to find it on any forum anymore). If you'd like, I can help you research what you need to do with whatever gun you choose. Let me know and we can start working together to get you a race gun built. You should also know that you'll need a hefty wallet. You can't do a whole lot to a WA gun for under $600. I only upgraded the essential parts and I went over $600. I could spend another $400-$500 and I still don't think it would be finished.

Knief think you could send me that DumboRAT article as a word document? I'd love to read it.
My knowledge of IPSC, isn't yet up to my skirmishing knowledge, but it's getting there...
The fact that I have an IPSC capable gun definetely helped pique my interest in the genre fairly recently.
Jack.

You guys are in trouble if we get this thing going. I just polished my sear, disconnector, and hammer strut and I've got a noticably softer and smoother trigger pull. I wish I knew how to make the damn thing shorter too. I wonder if I could just add a spacer onto the back of the trigger shoe.
