Okay, I tried searching through MiA, and the response to this question seemed to be a flame war, so I'll give it a go here.
Classic army or Tokyo Marui? The CA seems to have the power advantage, and more metal sounds like a more durable gun, on the flipside, I've heard nothing but praise for TM over the years.

Well, coming from an all TM gun owner, I'd say TM only because they are built to last, not built to crash. The metal bodies on CA are crap compared to the high quality plastics on TM bodies, and the internals in CA are nothing special, along with tm they will both sustain similiar wear and tear with upgraded springs.
My opinion: depends on the gun, I hear the new CA guns are becoming more and more reputable, if its a new CA G36c or 36K I'd say go CA. If it's an M4, or MP5, go TM

Actually, I've been eyeing the CA33e... price is a bit rough, but I do like the fact that it's a big rifle with good specs.
Really, I'm looking at the assault rifles capable of competing with a sniper, how I see it, something along those lines would let me fill into other areas of the game as much as possible, and be able to bring a varied arsenal with a single weapon.
If the above statement gives anyone an idea on a "good suited" aeg, lemme know... Oh great, I just hijacked my own thread.

If you willing to go Mauri, there are many G3-SG1's still available. they have longer inner barrels, and even longer ones can be fitted without serious modifications. CA33-429mm TM G3-469mm These 2 inner barrels will fit nicely in a G3 M16-510mm SIG 550-534mm I will warn you, the G3 is a VERY large rifle. I accepted this shortcoming when I bought it. However, after some mods here and there, I plan to use it as an occasional counter-sniper rifle. After a spring and bushing modification, bringing Karina to 400 FPS, she's already a bad bitch. Just ask "Stapo and Livonia. They have been on the receiving end of my G3 several times. Just my 2 cnets dude. I like the HK33 made by CA too. I think of it as an M4 for people who hate armalites

Well the new version of the CA M15s are said to be great. While the older lines of them are crap. Same with the newest CA Mp5s (A3 or A4, not sure), nothing has gone wrong and I know a friend that LOVES it. While the older versions are crap (A2). CA's metal bodies used to be made of pot metal. Not very good and not durable. Their newer bodies are supposed to be amazing (on the CA33e, G36c, new Mp5s and M15s). TM bodies are a lot more durable though, they are made of high resistant ABS, so they can take more bending and such then a metal body can. I would say if your going for an M4 (though your not, but you could), go for the new version of CA's M15s. Since if you upgrade it, I don't think there are tabs on the newer CA M15s, while the age old habbit on the TM M16s is breaking the tabs (holding the upper and lower reciever together). I know, because I had an M4A1 with broken tabs. And it sucks. I would say if going with a g36c, go with a CA G36c, since supposedly they are god compared to the TM. To truth, I haven't heard much of the CA33e. I know it is a great weapon, but performance wise and durability wise I have no clue. CA gives you about 30 more FPS, not great, will get you about 10 - 15 more feet in the field. TMs bodies are meant to last (though the M16s tabs could be redon ) CAs are meant for distance (upgraded). It is really all a personal preference. There are so many pros and cons of both TM and CA. The only thing is that you are more prone to get a lemon from CA then TM. Really, I have never heard of a TM lemon....to tell ya the truth.....

Just wondering if the same applies for the other TM-G3 models(G3A3 and G3A4)?
I might be able to find a used or old stock of one of the other models for significantly less $$$... or are they all about the same "vintage"?(going on the assumption that the sg1 is newer)

TM really hasn't put out a model since I think the mid 90's. I would say that they were generally made around the same time. And also, if you can find a G3A3, best of luck. Not many own them, and not many sell them either.

Not many own them, and not many sell them either. Its my understanding that the G3A3 and A4 are out of production. If you can find one used, it's a HELL of a find. The main reason I suggested the SG1 variant is the avlability. A fiew asian retailers still have em, as well as one for sale on MiA in the commerce section. miairsoft.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=commerce&action=display&n=1&thread=1120937098The internals are all the same. the G3A3 is a fixed stock, the G3A4 is retractable stock, and the G3SG-1, (Scharfschützengewehr or sharp shooting rifle) is a fixed stock sniper rifle capable of full auto fire (at least the real steel is ) Tokyo Mauri has not updated their products like Classic Army has, they dont need to.

The CA36c is nothing short of amazing. I got some firsthand experience with it and was INCREDIBLY impressed.

i would go with an aftermarket upgraded gun, like the grs customs, or the wgc customs. G&P and&G also are the equivalent of these rifles and they should hold up very well and are somewhat more powerful than any TM. TM are good long lasting starter rifles, but in my experiences not good platforms for heavy internal modifications without reinforcing everything around and including the gearbox.

Thanks for all the input,
After some thought, I think I'll stick to TM, since I doubt I'll be doing heavy mods, probably just a few small upgrades. If I do get really into this sport, I'll get more into modding and so-such, but starting off I just need something good and dependable.

I agree with Mitch, Ive had 2 TM rifles that havn't let me down yet, but it will end up costing WAY to much to do an upgrade of my liking, thats why im getting the G&G M4
