For those of you who didn't know, I'm a career auto mechanic.
Every now and then, I work on a car older than me. 68 mustang, 57 Chevy, 75 caddy and so on. I even worked on a Jeep older than my MOM, a 1946 Willys CJ2A.
Something came in today, and I doubt it will ever happen again. Installing a PART older than me!
The Vehicle is a 1971 Ford LTD convertible. The exhaust had rotted out, and needs replacement. We don't have A tube bender, so we needed a pre-bent assembly. The only thing we were able to get was NOS (New Old Stock, not Nitrous Oxide).
The original Ford part tag was till on the pipe, with a manufacture date of August 2nd 1976. I was born on September 24 1976!!
Installing a part older than me, how cool is that?

Love NOS parts! cheap, and they FIT! especially on a not-so-popular model.
I've been restoring a '72 Olds. Cutlass Supreme for the past 2years. I can get parts for a 442, or standard cutlass... but getting something for mine is a pain sometimes. That and not many people make good performance parts for a rocket 350. a 455 no problem. nobody gives the small block enough credit anymore.

Oh man, I love that car... that little 350 has done me well. After porting the heads, working it up to 9:1 comp. and slapping a HEI in it, I got that "little" engine up around 350hp/400ft.lbs. Only thing holding me back right now is the rearend, only got a 3.0? back there, planning on getting a 3.90 posi next year.
Unusual beauty is my specialy... btw, that's where my screen name comes from: BOBA=Bright Orange Bad Ass.

My dad restores cars, and races them. He owns a 62 and 67 vette. The 62 gets high 12s and the 67 gets high 9s...on a 1/4 mile track

I'm working on a friend's '78 el camino. Not a restoration, just a transmission swap for now. Later I want to replace some of the floor pans because chips of rust the size of pringles keep falling on me as I work.

Dorito's should stick to what their best at, cheese and ranch, doesn't get better than that.
