Well as the war on terror progressed America realized the need for a new high speed high comfort uniform with a strong urban effect...hence A.C.U.s were made, they work wonders in an Urban inviroment and perhaps even better in mountainous terrain like Affghanistan. They are equally as effective at night, which is mainly when the U.S. operates. A.C.U.s, for that reason were given IR(infra red) identification markers on the sleeves and helmet cover. The U.S. doesn't plan on fighting in the jungles anymore so the need for effective woodland cammo is insignificant in comparison to the need of a modern uniform effective in terrorist hot spots. Our means of war have changed, and so has our equipment....they have changed to better suit the modern day infantryman and his day to day conflict on terrorism.

Yeah, ACU's still have problems. I remember sitting in the recruiting office the other day and all the sudden hearing "son of a fucking bitch!" CPL Reilly yelled out. Then another recruiter said "what? Find what I did to your mom?" Then CPL Reilly went on to explain how his shitty ACU zipper broke on his blouse, which triggered a whole conversation in the station about the problems we’ve had with ACU’s .... Anyway, my point is that ACU's aren’t made as well as the good old BDU's.
BTW I'm going to make a photo print and hang that up at our station.

a.c.u's are the worst camouflage pattern ive ever seen, the real reason the government went with acu's was they were to cheap to go with multicam, just like they were to cheap to keep the Commanche, and just like they were to cheap for the M8 rifle. money is more important to the government then our soldiers lives. strait from a former soldiers mouth.

No, we didn't go to the XM8 or M8 rifle because of several reasons. The Army is planning on switching back to a heavy caliber weapon and the M8 failed a lot of the battle field stress tests. If you are a former soldier then get on to AKO and find the information on there. Oh, but yes, we do need more money...

It was in the AKO news like last summer. It was a while ago... Just to a search for it you'll probably be able to find it. BTW what was your MOS?
