Hey,I don't know if any one here has seen the OP Irene head camm videos but that looked... I'm spechless.... We need more Red Out size tournaments in Michigan. I'm a huge Black Hawk Down fan and I want to do something like that here. Would anyone be interested in helping me organizing something like that? I'm thinking of contacting Bill from 21st century since they're in Michigan maybe they'll help us with it if we let them sell stuff there. If we could find someone with a few acres I'll donate a shit load of wood to start building the Moge (Mogadishu).

It could be interesting to try, however I feel like it would be foolish to attempt / expect an amount of success equal to that of the annual OP: Irene, that's ran around the country. I know guys that have flown out of California to make OP: Irene in Kentucky. I'd love to get into more milsimmish games, but maybe we should start out smaller.

To set up Mogadishu you'd need more of an urban environment, rather than woods
Judging from Redout, we'd have to come up with a scenario that could last the whole day, which could go completely awry. For example, the idea of the downed pilots extracting in Redout has a few parallels to 1993, but the opposite ending of what happened in Somalia - MEU was successful in getting us out of there fast. Another problem would be that most people would want to represent skilled American special forces, rather than a large, ragtag band of people armed with AK's and RPG's.
We'll see...

thatd be nice, but itd be alot of work to make it as real as irene in OH was. Other than that, Redout was great, and we should definately make another operation with different missions.

i think that a HUGE game with a MILLION objectives isnt as fun as a simple get-the-president-then-run-like-crap-to-the-extraction-piont-before-the-enemy-ownes-you-all game because i would lose track if there were too many objectives, but lots of people is good, to a certain extent

I didn't say it'd be AS good as the one Col. Danny McKnight has. Besides that so far is a 3 year tournament that has progressed a lot. I would want the OP in time to rival it though. Maybe some day Michigan will be on the (airsoft) map.
I think the ideal playing area would be a field or open area that we could construct buildings on.
I know that everyone would want to be Americans; but we'd just have, say: 50% skinnys, 40% Rangers, 8% Delta, and 2% Aircrew (Downed Pilots) or something.
But would anyone be interested in helping me?

I'd be wiling to help, its a good idea, it just wouldn't be as big as Op: Irene, and a little more unrealistic.
I'll help....for a reserved spot on delta.

same here, but we'd need to get an area with plenty of buildings and sidewalk. And have alot of civilians, like bring anyone you can, even if they dont have guns. Same for Delta here.

I know it won’t compare to OP: Irene; but it's just one more step towards getting Michigan on track.
Here are my main priorities: 1) Getting someone to volunteer land. 2) Help with legalities such as insurance 3) People to help organize it.

Well Cheboygan is a long drive and I don't know if people would drive that far. Do you know who the land belongs to?

See what I'd like to do is put alot of planning into it and actually have people dress the parts. If the game is big enough I'm willing to dish out some cash for a good uniform/gear.
