I like the idea of us having our own CQB facility. However, it a little to late right now. Were almost halfway through winter. What I would like to see is a 6 month lease, from October to March. This should have us covered through most of the nasty weather. We have a few issues to work out for this to happen. 1 should SEMIA become a non-profit organization? This would make things easier to sign the lease. But this also means that we need to elect a president, a VP, a treasurer and so on. 2 Dues. Yes membership dues will go DIRECTLY to the rent for the CQB facility. If 40 people pay $25 a month, thats $1,000 a month for the facility. Bear in mind we also have to pay for electricity water and heat (no one wants to play in a cold building )But you need to pay for 6 months, $150! If we do 2 events a month, well worth It in my opinion. 3 Walk Ins. A $20 entry fee for walk-ins sounds fair to me. Maybe $15 for a pre-register. Any additional income from this must go directly to overhead, or improving the facility (buying props ETC) Lets talk about this from here. If we go about this level headed and well prepared, we shouldn't have any problems.

Hmmmmm, it would be interesting to see how it works out. It would definitely be worth a shot.

Well like EL stated its a little late to start this season . Im going to personally look into leasing a building for 6 months (winter) next season . I will have the rest of this winter and summer to have it ready for next year. I will be opening a small airsoft shop along with cqb arena in the same building . Im not looking to make alot of money just have a place for the winter to play. The money from the shop and and entry fees will go toward the building . I have already talked to the owner of local airsoft shop and she is willing to help with suppliers, and such .

Sounds good to me, but it's a little bit expensive. If it's good enough, I would pay. Do you think we should get some people from MIA to chip in to, so its a joint organization?

You know, just because summer isn't cold doesn't mean that we won't want to play some CQB between march and september. It's never too late to get a lease on a kickass facility. It also means that we can stop paying the gas bill half-way through the lease (although we may want A/C depending on what it gets like in the warmer months).
If enough people are up for it, I'll chip in. What I don't want to see happen is that the same five or six people are picking up the bill every time and everybody else says, "The check is totally in the mail, dude."

My only concern, donating is not a problem. I also think my dad could help with a down-payment. Don't quote me on that one though.

I agree but i would take care of everything and have a game every weekend that way if 100 people show up for the whole month that would come to $2000 ($20 *100). Two Grand should be more than enough for rent on a nice size building. I would also sell the usual supplies (BB's , Gas and such) to help pay for the utilities.

Well, I know I could put a down payment with the person paying the rent if need be, I could drop quite a good amount down. If need be, I could put $300 up front (possibly get paid back in the months to come, but it's not a general issue when or if). I think we should do this like ACO, do a once a month kind of raffle, maybe even twice. We could even get sponsors (like AEX, or the like) to send us free stuff to raffle off, like posters, beanies, T-shirts, ect. The ACO CQB game I went to, they raffle off a G&G M16 (Don't know the name off hand) and either AEX or Airsoft GI gear (T-shirts and Hats). Raffling off prizes would really attract a crowd, and could get at least 40 people. Now I am not saying go with AEGs and the like off the bat, maybe get a retailer to sell us one for half the price, and we would advertise for them and stuff for the cut (though, we'd have to find a really good / nice retailer to do that). I know I could help with a prize down payment, maybe even order it from my money, and keep it (not use it) until game time. Than pass it off to the person in charge (like El, or S-System, or Knief, ect). I would say start with some GBBs, than when we get more people coming, move to AEGs. I could also donate my time in order to set up props (I have a lot of stuff, just throw some ideas out and I may just have it), help prepare scenarios, like do walk through with say El, or someone on how the game should be played out. Also, ACO did this with their team privately (I think), and I think SEMIA should too, but could teams rent out the facility? (Like my team, Team Maelstrom would love to get some private games in, just ourselves working out tactics and the like). Of course we could throw some money down for rent, but I would want it reduced, as it is a team practice, and there aren't as many targets available nor prizes . So like $10 or so a person for the team practices, so if we bring 6, than $60 for that day, or 10, $100 for the day, ect. Also, I would love to have a camera station set up in a concealed room in the facility (with only one door, so you can't have a firefight in it). Have several cameras set up inside the building, at key points of extraction or the like, like what was done in SAW 2. I think this would be really sweet, and I have a couple spare TVs and could even buy the cables / security cameras to do it.

Mos of the financial issues can be dealt with in making SEMIA a non-profit organization. This way not just one person is responsible for the rent, It lies on ALL OF US! I also think it would be cool to register the domain name "www.semia.ORG"! The "premium Membership" was a way to have guaranteed income to pay for the building. This gives the member a pre-paid admission. I'm sure walk ins will help, but its kinda hard to depend on that. As for private games, I think it should be flat rated. I cant give a price, mostly cause I don't know what the expenses are. As a non-profit organization, were trying to break even. Kneif has a good point. If it works out well, we could have a CQB facility year round. The big up side of having it is a nice warm place to play in the winter. S-System, Depending on your timetable to get your own store going, Id like to collaborate with you. the is plenty of need to have a retailer where you play. Well just have to see what happens

AndrewMP5k , those are some great ideas . I like the camera room idea , we could possibly make some videos to sell. First of all we need to work on getting a location, but as soon as one is available i know who I'm going to talk to for ideas. When we actually have a lease on a building we would be able to use the building anytime we want . Team practices could actually be scheduled during the week maybe after school or work , to not interfere with the weekends as those will be held for events to pay rent and utilities

Yeah it would be nice to have a year round cqb building, but i dont fore see a big turn out in the summer , due to the fact that people all ready have places to play when its warm. On the other hand if we were to make a profit during the winter months ,and could afford to pay for rent and utilities during the summer months it might work .

First of all, this sounds very interesting gents. I would love to play some CQB especially if it is near by.
S-System, I am going side with Knief and say that regardless of the season (although it is more appealing in the winter) people want to play CQB. I know I do.
Depending on what happens with both the facility and my personal time I would be extremely interested in the monthly pass program. All in all I would like to wish you guys the best of luck with it. Hope it works out!

Another way my faithful dad can help here He, as well as I, know like all the police officers in livonia (like if we were to find a location in livonia), and we could get a group of them to come and train/play with us, that would get more peoples attention, like a "train with the LPD event", and i like andrews camera room as well.

GREAT IDEA! Aggressive Sports near Joliet does this. They have local airsofters play the bad guys for the local PD. Got a link somewhere, gotta dig it up. Also ask your Parents whats involved in starting a non-profit organization. Or at least tell us who can help us with that. And Toothbrush, WELCOME TO SEMIA! Hope to see you at a game real soon!

...and i like andrews camera room as well.... Lol, that has (as I saw from Enkidu) a.... double entendre....meaning. Kind of sounds wrong . Anyhow like I said, I have a lot of Halloween stuff that we could use for scenarios and the sort. Like video game or movie re-inactments, possibly. We could base a lot of stuff of of what ACO did and helped them pull off a successful show-in at the warehouse, and use it as a base for ours. I know that the $50 thing shooed a lot of people off, so $30 is fine to start off with. And if we get well known for our great games, possibly bump it up a little bit, to pay for more things, like better props or better prizes. (what would you rather go to, a game for say $20 that's normal, or $30 for prizes, or even $35 for prizes and scenarios with awesome props and baselines). I say number 3. It's all about giving the customer what they want. And having an awesome CQB facility helps, but is not the key element. I like the LPD idea, I think that would be awesome. I have a spare computer I could hook up for the Security room, and also TVs. So we could have stuff set to the computer, like shutting room lights off and the sort. Timers on stuff, like lights or sounds, maybe even alarms. It seems like I have expensive ideas, and they well could be, but I would love to see this happen. And if we are doing a 6 month lease, it could pay off, instead of setting it all up for say a 2 month or so lease and loosing a bit. If anything, I will buy the props and all that. I already have a majority of the stuff, and the money to back it up. And we have a lot of people on here who are smart with electronics, and could get us the biggest bang for our buck out of itm because they would know what we need, and possibly the cheapest place or way to do it.
